Hi there! I'm Jake.
I’m a Software Engineer from the UK and I’m hoping to use this website to showcase things I’ve either made or want to share, like interesting use cases of libraries and programming languages.
Don’t expect much from this site, I’m working on it outside of work and in-between other hobbies such as:
- Running
- Hiking
- Bouldering
- Reading
- Table tennis
- The occasional poker game
- Attempting to get into writing
- Watching the odd bit of TV
- Socialising
- And finally, finding new hobbies and dropping them within the very same week
I know, that sounds like a lot of time doing other things, which you’d be correct for thinking. That’s why this site may not be updated that frequently, so this is a warning on the likelihood of an underabundance of content on this website.
Why NameGoesHere.io?
I usually go by the name Name_Goes_Here when on the internet (I know, how original of me). Problem is, a few people often take the same username on many of the same websites I try signing up to, so I have to find similar alternatives, like HereGoesName for my GitHub.
So of course, when I saw NameGoesHere.io was available, I jumped at the opportunity to snap myself a British Indian Ocean Territory domain name.
A bit more about me
I’ve had over 6 years of experience in Software Engineering.
During this time I’ve had the opportunity to work with different languages and technologies. Some of these include the following;
- Java Spring Boot
- C++ 17
- Python (not anything too advanced though)
- Bash
- UML
- Some bespoke language I had to use a while back
- Containerisation (including using buildpacks)
- Cloud software - native k8s, ArgoCD, a tiny bit of AWS
- Bits of Prometheus and Grafana
I’m likely forgetting other technologies and languages I’ve used, so whenever I remember more, I’ll be sure to add it to this list.
So all in all, I’m quite used to backend and Object-Oriented programming, so I tend to do quite a bit in that space, and my focus of this site will be more on that than anything front-end related.
